Elly Henes was no stranger to winning over the course of her five years at NC State, proven by her multitude of achievements throughout her career. In a year where most would have let the ways of the world deter them from being successful on the track, Henes pushed through to add onto her list of all-time accomplishments.

It’s the final day of 2019, and Technician sports finishes out the top 19 NC State sports moments of the year with 1-7 on New Year’s Eve. The finale includes huge postseason finishes from NC State wrestling, swimming and diving, and women’s cross country, long winning streaks from Pack baseball and women’s basketball, and a pair of men’s basketball buzzer-beaters.

For cross country runner Elly Henes, running has always been in her blood. Her mother, and coach, Laurie Henes was a finalist at the 1996 U.S. Olympic Trials for track and field and her father was an All-American in track and field and cross country for the Wolfpack.
