Men's golf adds coach Men's golf coach Richard Sykes announced on Thursday the hiring of Chip Watson as a Wolfpack assistant coach. Watson, an alumnus and former golfer at Campbell University, has 19 years experience as a PGA class A Professional. He is currently serving as the Vice President of the Carolinas Golf Group and serves as the general manager and golf director of the new Lonnie Poole Golf course on Centennial Campus.

Detweiler reaches round of 16, falls short Brandon Detweiler, a sophomore on the men's golf team, lost to Patrick Reed of Augusta, Ga. in match play on Thursday after 23 holes at the 108th U.S. Amateur Championship in Pinehurst, N.C.. Detweiler reached the round of 16 after advancing on the last hole of his previous two matches in the tournament, but he came up short against Reed who advanced to the quarterfinals. Sophomore Matt Hill, another member of the men's golf team, advanced to the round of 32 but was defeated by Sihwan Kim of Stanford who won by five holes.
