Just one NFL Pack Pro remains in the playoffs after Super Wild Card weekend with the trio of Colts and Russell Wilson losing in the first round.

In what could probably be considered a critical game Friday night, the Carolina Hurricanes came up with one of their worst efforts of the season against one of the worst teams in the NHL. The Canes were listless in a 4-1 loss to the Ottawa Senators at PNC Arena.

A number of former NC State football players had strong showings in the NFL's Wild Card round this past weekend. 

The Carolina Hurricanes put forth a solid effort Sunday night, but it was not quite enough to top one of the NHL’s top teams, as the Canes fell 3-2 to the Winnipeg Jets at PNC Arena.

So far, so good for the Carolina Hurricanes in the month of March. The Canes topped the New Jersey Devils 3-1 at PNC Arena Friday night for the team’s second win in as many nights and third straight game with a point, at least temporarily moving into a tie with the Columbus Blue Jackets for the Eastern Conference’s second wild-card spot.

A little more than two weeks ago, the Carolina Hurricanes were sitting pretty. Following a 7-4 victory over the New York Islanders at PNC Arena Jan. 14, the team’s fourth straight win and fifth in its last six, the Canes sat one point out of an Eastern Conference wild-card spot with games in hand on the teams ahead of them in the race.
