Looking for its third conference championship in a row, Pack wrestling hosts the ACC Championship in Reynolds Coliseum with four No. 1 seeds.

In not-so-surprising fashion, the NC State wrestling team has started the season undefeated. However, what might be surprising are the three contributing freshmen, which are among this week’s wrestling takeaways.

Recent history has not been kind to Virginia in this matchup. NC State has won six straight against it, including a 28-9 victory in 2020.

NC State wrestling will face off against Pittsburgh Saturday in the Wolfpack’s second ACC matchup of the season. NC State (11-0, 1-0 ACC) trounced Virginia 28-9 last week, while Pittsburgh (7-2, 0-1 ACC) blanked Duke 50-0 in its lone ACC matchup.

The No. 5 NC State wrestling team continued its dominance and opened ACC play with a 28-9 victory against Virginia. The Wolfpack (11-0, 1-0 ACC) cruised by the Cavaliers (7-3, 0-1 ACC) with a couple of MMA legends, former two-division UFC Champion Daniel Cormier and former Bellator welterweight champion Ben Askren, in attendance. Having the two — both college wrestling legends — in Reynolds Coliseum was huge for NC State.

The No. 8 NC State wrestling team flexed its muscles with a hard fought road win over No. 23 Virginia Friday night.
