Students interested in campaigning in the 2019 fall Student Government elections only have a few days until filing for candidacy closes Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 11 p.m., according to the Student Government website.
Per a timeline posted on the website, filing opened on Aug. 30. Students interested in applying should read over the elections handbook and fill out the intent to run form listed on the website. The form asks about a potential candidate’s name, sought position, and enrollment and contact information.
After filing closes, all candidates are required to attend one of two All Candidates Meetings, which go over election regulations and will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 11 and Thursday, Sept. 12 in Talley 4140. Campaigning officially begins on Monday, Sept. 16. Voting will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. and will end the following day also at 8 p.m.
Only senators are elected during the fall elections, while student body officers such as student body president, vice president and treasurer are elected in spring, according to the Student Government website.
