RBC Center, partners extend lease

Basketball fans will see improvements for 2008 season after increased revenues

The University's relationship with the RBC Center will continue after the Carolina Hurricanes renewed its lease with the Centennial Authority through 2024. According to Ray Rouse, the chairman of the Centennial Authority -- the public agency that owns RBC, the new lease agreement will include several improvements that will directly impact the 2008 men's basketball season.

Truck rolls into Lake Raleigh

A truck rolled down the boat launch ramp and became submerged in Lake Raleigh on Centennial Campus Wednesday morning, according to Campus Police. The white Ford F-350 belonging to Steven Decosta was towed from the water after being left out of gear on the ramp.

City firefighters have been training on campus in preparation for the implementation of a the fire department's new high rise policy to take effect in July.A collaborative agreement between University Fire Protection and the Raleigh Fire Department has allowed the firefighters to train in dorms over the last few weeks, with June 17 being the last day.

Employees fired for porn, other illegal downloads

A University employee was fired, according to a state audit report released Tuesday, though the employee's name has not yet been released.According to another report released the same day, two N.C. Central employees have also been fired for illegal download activity, in addition to not following employee hiring procedures.
