University begins planning for smoking regulations
Deans must make requests to facilities to indicate smoking areas
The University has already begun planning the implementation of new smoking restrictions on campus, according to Kevin MacNaughton, associate vice chancellor for facilities. According to the campus-wide e-mail from Chancellor James Oblinger, the restrictions on tobacco use will be effective Jan.
Latest RIAA settlement deadline Monday
Student Legal Services is working to get in touch withstudents in trouble with the Recording Industry Association of America.
The Recording Industry Association of America sent out their latest round of pre-litigation settlements two weeks ago to 32 students and the deadline to settle is Monday, according to Pam Gerace of Student Legal Services. Gerace is urging students to seek the help of Legal Services before the 5 p.
University planning Hunt Library for Centennial
New facility projected to open in 2012, renovations to D.H. Hill also in the works
The new James B. Hunt Jr. Library on Centennial Campus has a total projected cost of $114 million and should be completed by Dec. 27, 2012, according to Susan Nutter, vice provost and director of libraries. The N.C. General Assembly appropriated $17 million for the project.

College of Engineering plans to use video games to supplement coursework
College of Engineering students will be encouraged to play video games as part of a new program designed by IBM called Innov8. The College of Engineering is one of over 30 colleges and universities worldwide that will implement the program, which was released Nov.
Coach Yow, Tim Peeler to be featured at booksigning
Authors will be signing new books at Bookstore Dec. 7
Women's basketball coach Kay Yow and author Tim Peeler, will sign books Friday, Dec. 7 at NC State Bookstores' annual Final Madness Sale . Yow will begin signing copies of her new childrens book, I Will, Not Just I'll Try, at 5:30 pm, according to John Starbuck, assistant director of marketing.
Senior Week begins Monday
Events finish with Hillsborough Hike
The Alumni Association and Senior Class Council have organized a series of events for Senior Week, which begins Monday. Zach Adams, senior class president and a senior in industrial engineering and economics, said they are expecting the week to be a good release for students preparing for exams.
