College Democrats, Republicans commemorate Iraq War's fourth anniversary
Laminated yellow stars spotted the grass field near the Brickyard Tuesday. College Democrats placed 822 stars in the field in front of D.H. Hill Library to honor the 822 U.S. soldiers who died in the Iraq War during the past year. Tara Ilsley, president of the College Democrats and sophomore in political science and Spanish, said this year marked the bloodiest year in the Iraq War.

More than 100 students from N.C. State and Enloe and Southeast Raleigh high schools stood up and walked out of their classes and other activities at 11 a.m. Tuesday to rally against the Iraq War. They gathered on the sidewalk, spilling over in to the grass by the Bell Tower.

Eligibility to run was in question for several Student Government candidates Tuesday night based on the new Policies, Regulations and Rules resolution for student leaders. The policy requires that student leaders have full-time status, meet a GPA requirement and has restrictions on disciplinary actions.

Town hall meeting served as open forum for students, officials
Students and University officials gathered yesterday for a town meeting to discuss renovations to student facilities like Talley Student Center, Witherspoon Student Center and Price Music Center. Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Evelyn Reiman opened the meeting, which took place in Talley, by explaining the need for renovations and stressing the need of student suggestions.

Growers and researchers discuss strategies
Pests are a threat to greenhouse tomatoes, which account for nearly 43 percent of tomatoes sold in supermarkets, according to Mary Peet, a professor of horticultural science. Peet organized and led a national greenhouse tomato workshop, which the University hosted last month, to discuss a pest-management strategy for greenhouse tomatoes.

It was decided that students would be allowed to use tape to put up campaign posters. The Administration as ruled that tape could be used on brick and cement surfaces.
